The Wilderness EMT Upgrade is designed for EMS personnel who wish to enhance their training for service in search and rescue operations, disaster response, and wilderness expeditions. The curriculum builds on your training and experience to meet the special challenges of the unconventional setting. We emphasize the understanding of medical principles and judgment, risk benefit analysis, and the leadership role in managing medical emergencies in the field. This course is approved for 45 hours CME through the Continuing Education Coordinating Board for Emergency Medical Services. Please check with your state EMS office for CEU reciprocity. Nurses, Physicians, and PA’s will receive an attendance certificate and can submit the curriculum for CEU’s or Category II hours. The Wilderness EMT Upgrade course is also available to intact groups on a contract basis at your site or ours. For a fire department or SAR team, a contract course serves as an excellent team-building experience in addition to the medical training. Please call or e-mail us to discuss this option. See Sample Schedule Below. |
