Durango, Colorado is a city of 15,000 in Southwestern Colorado in the valley of the Animas River on the western slope of the San Juan Mountains. The area is known for mountain biking, climbing, whitewater kayaking, and one of the last steam-driven narrow gauge railroads left in operation in the US. At an elevation of 6512 feet Durango’s climate is relatively mild compared to the higher elevations to the north and east. |
